Jumpsuit fever

Left: 'Kona' jumpsuit by Ella Moss/Fashion Island ($248); Right: silk jumpsuit by Halston Heritage/Fashion Island ($475)

If you’ve been wary of the jumpsuit trend for the last two years, it’s getting increasingly harder to ignore: they’re everywhere now. And it doesn’t look like the style craze will be waning anytime soon. Luckily, jumpsuits are not all created equally and there are plenty of styles to choose from at Fashion Island – whether you’re looking for something dressed up or down. Find the right one and it can be a one-piece wonder, an elegant and chic fashion statement.

For a perfect spring-into-summer look, find jumpsuits in fun prints with a cropped leg, like these from Anthropologie, and pair them with sandals.

For an alternative to the LBD or little black dress, try a strapless pantsuit, like these tie-front ones from Nordstrom ($68). Top them with a leather jacket or blazer for the perfect office-to-evening look.

A pantsuit for a cocktail event or glamorous evening out? Absolutely. L-to-R: Cobalt jersey one-shouldered jumpsuit by Halston Heritage at Neiman Marcus ($475); jersey wrap jumpsuit by Helmut Lang at Nordstrom ($320);  draped jumpsuit by Lanvin at Neiman Marcus ($1,965).

Spring essentials at Ella Moss

With its laid-back sensibility and wearable pieces in bright, breezy prints, Ella Moss perfectly captures the style of modern SoCal gals.

For Spring, say yes to what has to be the most comfortable trousers that you can dress up or down, the “Annika” or “Lana” relaxed-fit pants ($148). The elastic-waisted pants don’t cut into your body and the tapered leg with side pockets gives it enough polish to wear to the office or for a night out, especially when paired a great pair of heels.

Speaking of great shoes, these “Harleigh” sandals ($198) are a chic update to the ubiquitous gladiator styles, with soft leather and a subtle wedge stacked heel that goes well with pants, dresses and shorts alike. Even better is the rose gold zipper closure in the back for easy wear and go.

We also love the effortlessly cool combination of a heather gray T-shirt looks with the white “Tessa” eyelet A-line skirt ($168).

This ruffle bandeau top ($68) is a fresh and feminine take on the basic black bikini. Pair it with a matching black bottom or for more pop, try a floral-patterned bottom.

Ella Moss is located next to Anthropologie at Fashion Island, 949.644.4261 or ellamoss.com

Food+Fashion = A Stylish Shopping Affair

Your favorite places to shop (psst, that would be Fashion Island, Irvine Spectrum Center, The Market Place, Crystal Cove Shopping Center, etc.) are getting even better. And by better we mean delicious.

Late last fall brought a wave of amazing new restaurants to our retail centers. From Orange County’s newest culinary giants, FIG & OLIVE and Red O by Rick Bayless, to Lemonade and Lark Creek. (Might we add, nearly all of which never considered opening at shopping centers … that is, before Fashion Island entered the equation.) Now, CUCINA enoteca, which debuted at Irvine Spectrum Center and remains one of O.C.’s hottest restaurants, is also set to open at Fashion Island this summer.

If that weren’t enough, Irvine Spectrum Center will welcome several exciting new dining destinations as well, including: Umami Burger (which will be located inside the new location of Irvine Improv Comedy Club this spring); TLT Food from Daniel Shemtob, a winner of The Food Network’s Great Food Truck Race; LYFE Kitchen from acclaimed chef Art Smith (Oprah’s former chef and an alum of Top Chef Masters) and Tal Ronnen; Del Frisco’s Grille, which will serve modern spins on classic American comfort dishes; and BRIO Tuscan Grille, which will feature Northern Italian cuisine with made-to-order pastas.

Plenty of tasty options will soon await you at The Market Place when Pieology, everyone’s favorite fast-casual, customizable pizza joint, opens this spring — in addition to the popular Veggie Grill and Class 302 (two words: shaved ice!).

And speaking of pizza (because who doesn’t love pizza?), artisanal Neapolitan-style pizza will soon open at Crystal Cove Shopping Center by way of Settebello Pizzeria Napoletana. Also on deck: Babette’s, one of the East Hamptons’ most popular restaurants will bring its healthful, organic fare to O.C. with breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Stay tuned, we’ll keep you posted on all the delicious new arrivals!
